The Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration, division of the Department of Transportation has just released the FMCSA’s CSA 2010 (Comprehensive Safety Analysis 2010) initiative to reduce motor vehicle crashes, injuries, and fatalities.

This program is one of the major tools for measuring the safety of individual motor carriers and commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers. Such measures will help identify and monitor safety problems as part of the CSA 2010 safety improvement process.  Safety is an element that can only be assured if the vehicle remains in the care and control of the owner or authorized driver. Companies who fail to recognize the nexus between operational safety and operation security can be doing their company a disservice.  Safety and security go hand in hand. By protecting your asset you collaterally protect the cargo in your care.  By understating that the mission as set forth in this program, it is incumbent upon all owners to employ these recommended methods and obligatory on all drivers to use them consistently.
